Dahalokely war Theropode der späten Kreide, der zur Familie der Abelisauridae gehörte. Er lebte im heutigen Madagaskar, als diese Insel und Indien noch eine einzige, isolierte Landmasse bildeten.[1]

Holotypus UA 9855[3]

  • UA 9855: Diese Fund besteht aus einem Hals-, sechs Halswirbeln, eine ganze linke Rippe und einige Rippenfragmente.[4]

Stratigraphie[]

Der Holotypus wurde 2007 in mittleren Schichten der Ambolafotsy Formation gesammelt.[5]

Spekulative Lebendrekonstruktion[10]

  • D. tokana ist die einzige bekannte Art dieser Gattung. Sie wurde 2013 von Andrew A. Farke und Joseph J. W. Sertich beschrieben. Das Artepitheton "tokana" bedeutet "einsam" und bezieht sich auf die isolierte Lage der Insel Madagaskar, auf der das Fossil gefunden wurde.[4]
