Saurophaganax war ein später Allosaurier. Von ihm wurden bislang nur wenige Knochen gefunden, weswegen noch unklar ist, ob er wirklich eine eigene Gattung innerhalb der Allosauridae bildet oder eine Art des Allosaurus ist.[1]

Arten[]
- S. maximus ist die einzige bekannte Art dieser Gattung. Sie wurde 1950 von John W. Stovall als eine Art des Allosaurus, A. maximus beschrieben und 1995 von Daniel Chure in eine eigene Gattung eingegliedert.[2]
